Additives and mediums

CCT offers a wide range of organics to be used in ceramics. These products are mainly divided in mediums and additives.

Mediums are organic materials used to disperse, make fluid and apply inorganic and ceramic solids. Wet application processes provide many advantages compared to dry applications such as homogeneity and stability or material adherence. CCT mediums are especially developed to maximize these advantages by providing specific solutions to each application depending on the material to be dispersed, optimized in each special case for the working process to get a minimum sedimentation, a maximum stability and conservation as well as the maximum adherence.

Additives are organic materials that, when added in minimum percentages to slips, glazes or other materials, improve or modify considerably their technical properties. CCT additives are conceived to provide the best improvements avoiding interferences with other properties.


CCT has a wide range of mediums for ceramic decoration:

  • Printing mediums: Specially designed for printing application using several different decoration techniques such as rotative or flat screen.  These mediums are used to keep screen printing in suspension even in low viscosity and long storage. Their high stability allows to start manufacturing process under constant and stable conditions.
  • Third firing mediums: Specially designed for screen printing applications and other bulky products allowing free defects thanks to their optimal drying and further easy combustion.
  • Mediums for added-value solutions: Specially  designed for wet application of granilla with  bell,  filera or spray. These applications allow a high homogeneity when applying granillas. Among the innovations that we offer to our customers, we would like to point out sugar effect, which has a distinctive final touch from traditional products, or Full Lapatto, a high quality polish solution.


Our additives can be applied to different stages of ceramic manufacturing process available. These are available in liquid format for a better dispersion and homogeneity:

Body additives

  • Mechanical resistant additive: this is an organic product that, added to the ceramic body slip, allows increasing raw ceramic support resistance.
  • Body deffloculant: this is an organic product that is added to ceramic slip to deffloculate it in order to reduce viscosity and allowing higher density operations which offers manufacturing advantages.

Additives for glazes

  • Low viscosity liquid glue: this additive acts as a binder agent into the glaze, avoiding problems of crackling or removing, without increasing viscosity.
  • Thickener: this additive allows us to increase glaze viscosity when there are problems of application, sedimentation or any other trouble due to low viscosity. It increases glaze drying time and improves fixation.
  • Deffloculant: this product, when added in small percentages, reduces glaze viscosity without affecting density and making them more fluid and easy to apply.
  • Moistorizing: this additive for glazes applied by spray-gun improves the glaze permeability, which makes it extent quickly spread over the surface where it is to be applied.
  • Plasticizer: This additive increases plasticity when added to glazes. It improves sedimentation and regulates viscosity. It also improves glaze fixing on ceramic supports.
  • Anti-settling: this additive reduces sedimentation problems of ceramic suspensions. It accelerates drying and provides a better glazing surface.
  • Antifoaming: antifoam additive that acts by reducing surface tension and glaze viscosity, making bubbles or dimples disappear.

Additives for a final touch

This series includes the additives that, applied in different stages of the manufacturing process, allow a final touch different from the basic support.

  • Fixers: these additives are used to fix granillas or granulates on glaze surfaces.
  • Non-slip: this product, when applied on the glazed support before firing, allows us to get an increasing non-slip effect of the surface. Resulting texture is smooth and it hardly changes the original tonality of the support.
  • Waterproof: specially formulated to keep flooring in optimal conditions longer as well as making cleaning easier and protecting them from spots and dirt. This additive may be applied on any kind of surface but the best effects are obtained on a polished finish, either by granilla or glaze.
  • SekCID and SekCID Antibacteries: these additives are designed so that when applied on the fired piece, they prevent from lime, water or greasy vapor stick on tile surface. This allows a greater hygiene piece keeping clean and original brightness maintaining longer. This product is also available with antibacterial properties.
  • Solution for self-cleaning surfaces: this solution, when applied on the fired surface of the support by a thermal treatment piece, confers the self cleaning property. The solution also provides a photo-catalytic effect to the surface that makes solar ultraviolet radiation acts eliminating organic substance and bacteria as well as decomposing the gases that cause bad smell.
